My name is Abdul Rashid Abban, a final year student of Ural Federal University (UrFU) on the master's program "IT Innovations in Business". I also hold bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from University of Cape Coast, Ghana. I came to UrFU with an economic background and with the intention to focus only on economics until I took IT and data science classes, which made me gain knowledge in incorporating IT and some software in my economic research. Though, I’m not an IT student, but I appreciate the fact that I have learnt some IT programs, which have given me great insight in using some basic IT software in business and also economic research. As a postgraduate student in IT Innovations in Business with knowledge in IT and economics, I have successfully combined this knowledge to come out with two publications so far as a junior research assistant at UrFu, with my first publication on social network analysis in predicting fraudulent activities and the second publication on energy economics, which is actually the first part of my master’s thesis.
I’m a highly social person who is eager to work with anyone willing to effect positive economic and social change. I’m a highly-motivated person and love working towards a specific goal. Overall, I would say UrFU has made me an all-round person, highly motivated, confident and eager to take challenging tasks.
