The “SYMPATHOCOR-01” is a medical device for transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation. The “SYMPATHOCOR‑01” produces electrical stimulation using spatially distributed field of current pulses directed to the cervical ganglia of the sympathetic nervous system area. Medical methods of using the “SYMPATHOCOR-01” implement dynamic corrections of the activity sympathetic nervous system (DCASNS) and ensure improvement of autonomic balance, which is defined as the ratio of activities from sympathetic and parasympathetic parts of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The “SYMPATHOCOR-01” is included in the State Registry of medical devices in Russia (registration certificates №FSR 2007/00757 from 09.29.2007), and its manual was approved in August 1999 by the head of the State Control Department for Quality, Efficiency, and Safety of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment of the Russian Ministry of Health.
The use of the DCASNS method proved to be efficient during the preclinical stage of pathology as well as in the treatment of patients from different medical sectors. In otorhinolaryngology, the DCASNS has been successfully used for treatment of sensorineural hearing loss, vestibular disorders, tinnitus, and vertigo. In psychiatry the DCASNS has been used to cure depressive and anxiety disorders, childhood disorders, for example, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, stuttering, enuresis, autism, to treat psychosomatic disorders, and, also, in military rehabilitation. In neurology, the DCASNS technology has been successfully used to treat migraine, resistive forms of epilepsy, chronic pain, neuropathy, and vascular dystonia. In ophthalmology, it has been used to cure glaucoma, age-related vision degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and to accelerate postoperative recovery.
The next generation of the “SYMPATHOCOR-01” would be a neurostimulation device invented to treat cognitive disorders. Notable fact is that the technological use of the device is based on the DCASNS, so, its possibilities are not limited only by the nosology.
